Talent management

Talent: the represented person or entity a commission rate lives on, distinct from a company or a contact. What it is, and how it relates to deals.

Updated 2026-09-18

Talent is part of every workspace — there is no module to turn on. A Talent entity sits alongside your existing contacts, companies, and deals: a talent roster and profile pages at /talent, a talent picker on deals, CSV import and export for talent, and the commission fields that key off a talent’s rate. Agencies that sell their own work can simply leave the roster empty; deals work without linked talent.

Talent vs. companies vs. contacts

A company is an organization. A contact is a person. Talent is a different thing: the represented party you track a commission relationship against — the person or entity your workspace is selling on behalf of. A talent record can optionally reference one company and any number of contacts, but it is its own record with its own profile page, not a view over either.

Talent profiles

A talent profile carries a bio (up to 2,000 characters), one or more disciplines (creator, model, actor, athlete, musician, author, other), a location, a website, and manual social profile links. These are links you type in yourself — not connected accounts, and not a source of follower counts or other metrics. For connected accounts and normalized performance data, see the Social Data module once it ships.

Commission pool basics

A talent can carry a default commission rate. Link the talent to a deal and NeoKivo derives a commission pool from the deal’s value at that rate — the starting point for external claims and your team’s agent splits. See commission splits on deals for the full model.

CSV import and export

Talent has its own row in the import wizard (Data → Import & export) and an Export talent button next to the contacts, companies, and deals exports. The commission-rate column on that export only appears — and only imports — for someone with the commission permission below; everyone else gets the rest of the talent fields without it.

Permissions

  • talent.view — see talent
  • talent.edit — create and edit talent
  • talent.archive — archive and unarchive talent
  • talent.link — link and unlink talent on a deal
  • talent.commission_view — see a talent’s commission rate and everything derived from it
  • talent.commission_edit — set a talent’s rate and edit commission lines on a deal

These come from a member’s workspace role, same as every other permission — see roles and permissions for how roles assign them.
